Washington previously imposed a 25 percent tariff on imported steel and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports. Responding to the move, the European Union announced last week said that it would begin charging 25 percent import duties on a wide range of US products.
Earlier in May, Russian officials already stated that there would be a response to a reciprocal response to the US steel tariff hike.
