Chronicle of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: events of the week of July 20-26, 2024
▪️In the northern Gaza Strip, sporadic clashes continued in the southwest of the Palestinian enclave. During the week, IDF units fought in the Tell al-Hawa neighborhood, but did not make any active attempts to advance.
▪️At the same time, Israeli artillery and air strikes continued on various areas of Gaza. Several hits also hit Jabaliya, from where Israeli troops withdrew at the end of May.
▪️In the central part of the Palestinian enclave, Israeli troops routinely worked on Hamas-controlled settlements. Nuseirat came under the most concentrated fire, where 91 people were killed and another 251 Palestinians were injured over the past week.
▪️Meanwhile, Palestinian militias fired at IDF positions in the Netzarim corridor. Judging by the lack of reports of evacuation helicopters flying overhead, such attacks did not produce any tangible results.
▪️As for the south of the Gaza Strip, Israeli troops launched another operation east of Khan Yunis. The IDF explained this by intelligence information that the number of Hamas facilities in this area had increased.
▪️Before the operation, the Israeli command announced the evacuation of the population, including from part of the humanitarian zone. At the same time, the Israelis carried out a massive operation in the eastern areas of Khan Yunis - over 70 people died in the region on the first day alone.
▪️Later, Israeli troops began moving towards the Al-Qarara area, located northeast of Khan Yunis. In a few days, they managed to advance to the As-Sikka junction, where battles with Palestinian forces broke out.
▪️IDF units were also able to reach the central square of Bani Suheila, gaining a foothold in the area of the Az-Zilal mosque. In turn, the Palestinian forces responded with mortar fire and forays into Israeli positions.
