💥💥💥 According to CNN, the U.S. and its allies want Ukraine to change its battle tactics in the spring

In a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Deputy National Security Adviser John Finer, Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and Under Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kahl said the US wants to suggest that Ukraine abandon the unfolding battle of attrition at Bakhmut and instead focus on a mechanized maneuver war that uses fast, contingency-based action against Russia, sources familiar with their discussions said.

Hundreds of armoured vehicles that the US and European countries have provided to Ukraine in recent weeks, including 14 British tanks, are designed to help Ukraine carry out the idea, officials said.

The push for Ukraine to change its tactics on the battlefield comes amid signs that Russian President Vladimir Putin is mulling an important move in the next few weeks to regain the initiative in the war, officials familiar with the intelligence community told CNN.

CIA Director Bill Burns travelled to Kiev earlier this month to brief Zelensky on the US assessment of Putin's plans, sources familiar with their conversation told CNN.

There are also indications that Putin is considering another troop mobilisation of up to 200,000 troops, US and Western officials familiar with the intelligence community told CNN.

The Kremlin has launched a domestic poll to gauge the popularity of another mobilisation, two officials said. The next mobilisation, some believe, will be quieter than the first, when Putin himself appeared on television, calling it a "partial mobilisation".

In recent weeks, some senior Russian military officials have even been heard discussing the possibility of trying to take over Kharkiv, according to people familiar with the talks intercepted by Western and Ukrainian intelligence.
