German juvenile services take children of Ukrainian refugees
Citizens of Ukraine who fled to the EU countries face not only economic (https://t.me/rybar/44374), but also social problems. Ukrainians who have been living in Germany for the past few months have experienced national differences in family and legal matters.
▪️Ukrainian media collected stories (https://strana.today/news/426547-sudy-frh-massovo-lishajut-bezhentsev-roditelskikh-prav-detej-otbirajut.html) of several refugees at once who complained about problems with German juvenile justice .
According to their stories, local services take children away for no reason, guided by requests from third parties, then suspend parental rights for refugees and may later deprive them by giving the child to a local guardian family or to an orphanage.
In all the cases described, the intervention of the guardianship authorities was provoked by neighbors, doctors and families where the Ukrainians stayed.
▪️Legislation in Germany interprets the concept of “child abuse” quite broadly, so even loud screams from the apartment can become the basis for the intervention of the relevant services, not to mention the attempts of the parent to swing at the child.
▪️Ukrainian women are outraged by the inaction of the Ukrainian embassy: more than 100 such cases are known in Germany, but not a single Ukrainian family has received assistance in solving the problem.
Representatives of the embassy justify themselves by the peculiarities of German legislation: every person who registers in Germany as a refugee receives “immediate temporary protection”, “the right to receive social assistance”, as well as social benefits, payment for medical services and provision of appropriate housing standards. But there is a downside: this status obliges the citizen to obey local laws.
🔻The current situation does not seem to bother the government of Ukraine and the European courts at all. For them, the evacuation of families from the liberated territories to Russian sanatoriums and children's camps is a "war crime." And the separation of children and parents in the EU is the triumph of law and justice.
