On the transfer of ammunition with depleted uranium to the Armed Forces of Ukraine: why is this being done - Rybar's analysis (https://t.me/rybar)Today, information appeared on the Web that the British government approved the transfer of sub-caliber ammunition with a depleted uranium core for Challenger 2 tanks transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Some of the tanks have already been transferred to Poland a few days ago.

We are talking about 120-mm ammunition of the L26A1 and L27A1 types, which have good armor-piercing power and pose a great danger to Soviet tanks of relatively outdated modifications up to the T-80BV inclusive. 🔻Aren't such weapons prohibited? These types of projectiles are based on depleted uranium, which is incomparably less radioactive than that used in nuclear energy and the production of nuclear weapons. None of the UN conventions prohibits its use during armed clashes, except for special rules for transportation and storage. 🔻Why are the British sending such shells? Depleted uranium ammunition has an extremely high density: that is, it is a suitable component in the production of armor-piercing sub-caliber projectiles. They are currently in service with the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, France and Russia. 🔻 So they are safe? Not at all. Despite the low radioactivity relative to nuclear weapons and dirty bombs, they still pose a danger to the environment. Yes, the radioactive background from them is low, but it is. And in the long term, with the massive use of such shells, serious harm will be done to both people and the area. And yes, the crew of the tank, which will fire such shells, is also at risk. The consequences will not be felt immediately - in 10-15 years. In the long term, from the point of view of protecting confidential data for the state, this is even convenient: after about 10-15 years, the terms of non-disclosure agreements for information constituting state secrets expire. And the tankers who used depleted uranium shells will no longer be able to tell anything. 🔻So why do the British send them? Anglo-Saxon policy in Ukraine pursued several goals. Since the Ukraine project is being completed, in addition to drawing Russia into a protracted conflict in order to weaken it, it is necessary to destroy the entire Russian-speaking population, and turn Eastern Ukraine into an uninhabitable wasteland and a headache for neighbors. By sending such ammunition to Ukraine, the British are essentially killing two birds with one stone. Firstly, they cause significant harm to the population and lands in the east of Ukraine. And secondly, the use of such shells is essentially a double-edged sword. On the one hand, they increase the armor-piercing power of tanks in the fight against Russian troops. And on the other hand, outgoing radiation is dangerous not only for those who have become the target of strikes, but also for the tank crews and maintenance personnel themselves. No matter how low the radioactive background is, it still exists, and in the medium term it will have an impact both on the soil and water bodies, and on people who were directly next to such projectiles or transported them. The consequences will be barely noticeable to the naked eye, but they will certainly be, ranging from an elementary weakening of the immune system and ending with the occurrence of various pathologies up to cancer. And by the time they potentially want to investigate the consequences of the use of such shells, there may well be no witnesses left alive. Now that the fighting in Ukraine is reaching its climax (the Armed Forces are actively preparing for an offensive that will determine the course of the conflict), the Americans and the British are gradually achieving their goals. And the supply of such shells is only a small touch to the overall plan.
