The situation on the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia has seriously worsened in recent days. A lot of shots with the transfer of heavy armored vehicles and weapons of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to the border with Armenia have been published on the network (mainly, flooding is observed near Vardenis and Jermuk).

Tehran has repeatedly noted that an attempt to resolve the Artsakh issue by force or to seize the Syunik corridor will lead to an immediate response from Iran. The preservation of the territorial integrity of Armenia is an existential issue for Iran, since in the event of the defeat of the Armenians, the Iranians will remain physically surrounded by Turkic countries and Israelis.

Despite the fact that sometimes the Iranians only demonstrate their serious intentions without taking radical action, the situation is somewhat different now. With the resumption of hostilities, it is highly likely that the IRGC units will try to occupy Nakhichevan.

In the provinces of East and West Azerbaijan, the IRGC and the IRI Armed Forces have been put on full alert, equipment has been transferred to the border, and tactical aviation based at Tabriz Airbase is constantly on duty in the air.

There was also unconfirmed information about the closure of the border crossing from the Iranian side in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Region, which actually cuts Azerbaijan off from Turkey.

Such a scenario may encourage Azerbaijan to force events and artificially escalate tensions in Karabakh in order to finally resolve the issue of Artsakh and create the Zangezur corridor.
