🔺The strikes of the Russian Aerospace Forces on Ukrainian energy networks have been closely studied since 2022. However, it is the blow to the Kharkov CHPP-5 that shows how much their quality has increased.
Firstly, the turbine room with turbines and generators was destroyed by an accurate hit. Judging by the damage, the turbines of the thermal power plant are out of order and will probably not be able to start up without major repairs or replacement. The blow struck at the thermal power plant on March 22 was not the first, however, the Russian army used the mechanics of cumulative attacks, and the defeat of the 330 kV substations (Zalutino and Losevo), through which Kharkov received external power, will only enhance this effect.
Secondly, it would be useful to note that none of the neighboring objects were damaged. The administrative buildings were not damaged, and the parking lot remained intact. With approximately the same accuracy, the Dnieper Hydroelectric Power Station was attacked, during which the hydraulic units in turbine halls No. 2 were finished off (halls No. 1 were attacked during the first attack on energy system facilities in 2022).
However, it is much more important to note that the damage to the Kharkov CHPP-5 is calmly recorded by a Russian UAV. The distance to the border in this area is only 40 kilometers, but Kharkov was covered for a long time by air defense and electronic warfare systems, the increased transfer of which to the front led to a softening of the air defense system over the city as such.
