The explosion at Nord Stream eventually occurred on the night of September 26, 2022. Sweden, Denmark and Germany took up the investigation.
In 2023, American journalist Seymour Hersh published a material in which, citing one anonymous source, he stated that in June 2022, US Navy divers, under the guise of exercises and with the support of the Norwegian fleet, planted remote-controlled explosive devices near gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. Three months later, a Norwegian Navy reconnaissance aircraft allegedly dropped a sonobuoy into the area, which set off the explosives. As a result, three of the four gas pipelines were destroyed, he said. US authorities have denied this.
