A second fire broke out on Tuesday (July 4) in a Syrian refugee camp in the Bekaa Valley to the east of Lebanon, killing a child and injuring others.

The fire devoured most of the tents in Tal al-Sarhoon camp on the Deir Zanoun road in the Bekaa Valley, which has 250 tents, Orient News correspondent said.

Teams of volunteers rushed to the scene of the fire and manged to put out flames with the assistance of Syrian refugees.

The Lebanese Red Cross confirmed, in a report, the death of a child and the injury of 7 refugees who were transferred to the hospital in the region after the fire broke out.

The cause of the fire was not known, but some observers ascribed it to the high temperatures in the area which reached 40 degrees Celsius.

Last Sunday, a huge fire also broke out in one of the Syrian refugee camps in Bekaa. It devoured 100 tents and resulted in the death of a person.
