The Ukrainians were preparing this defense node, because in the event of its capture, Kleshcheevka opens the way to Artemovsk from the southwest (2 km from the settlement to the city).
The storming of the village is comparable to the work on the outskirts of Zaitsevo, where it was necessary to take into account the heights convenient for the Ukrainian militants, from which everything was fired. This height is located northwest of Kleshcheevka.
In addition, the territory of the village itself is set up for a long defense. It was reported that the enemy dug up the entire Kleshcheevka and equipped it with engineering structures.
