And here I will remind you about the 18th Mechanized Division of the Polish Armed Forces, where all this iron will be put into service.
The Poles have been systematically creating this formation on the border with Ukraine and Belarus since 2019.
In 2021, the division reached combat readiness as part of the 21st Brigade of the Podhale Riflemen and the 1st Warsaw Tank Brigade. T. Kosciuszko.
In 2022, the 19th mechanized brigade reached combat readiness.
And until 2026, the formation of divisional units (reconnaissance regiment, artillery regiment, air defense regiment, etc.) will still take place. In addition, the division will include or has already included the forces of psychological operations (Bydgoszcz) and units for working with the civil administration (Kelz).
It was from this division that Ukraine was given the Polish T-72 (PT-91 Twardy) tanks, which will now be replaced by the Abrams.
And this was done with a very obvious goal - in the medium term, Poland will receive a large formation in the east of the country with the latest (Sep.V3) and not very new (M1A1 FEP) American tanks, and Washington will earn money and increase the offensive potential of its main ally in Eastern Europe .
