On February 14, information appeared that negotiations between the authorities of Russia and Bolivia on the development of lithium deposits in the South American country are at the final stage.

However, the state-owned lithium company Yacimientos de Litio de Bolivia left open the option of choosing more than one company to develop the deposits. ▪️The participants of the tender draw attention to the conclusion of the specified contract. By the way, it was quite funny to watch how a direct descendant of William the Conqueror tells tales about the rejection of imperial ambitions. For the American authorities, the Monroe Doctrine, which effectively declares the countries of Latin America a sphere of exclusively American influence, still has legal force. Even if we are talking about conditionally socialist Bolivia. 🔻What about Russia? If China was allowed to "pick up the crumbs from the table", then Russia was allowed to approach the conditional table after China. Of course, there will be a certain profit from this, but you will have to pay your price. And here a natural question arises - what kind of benefits will Western "partners" ask for real access to the Bolivian salt marshes (and what is there besides lithium). If in the case of the PRC, the subject of the deal could well be a demonstratively neutral position on the Ukrainian issue or, for example, another gesture of goodwill, then here they may be asked, for example, to postpone the attack on some Ukrainian cities for a certain period.
