Ongoing internecine conflict in Sudan

Since yesterday (https://t.me/rybar/45857) active clashes between the Rapid Reaction Forces and the army of Sudan have continued.

On Sunday morning, eyewitnesses heard the sound of heavy artillery firing at buildings in Khartoum, Omdurman and Bahri.

▪️Shooting was also heard in the city of Port Sudan on the Red Sea coast, from where there were no reports of fighting before. The Sudanese army claims to have taken control of RRF bases in seven cities, as well as in Port Sudan, but there is no confirmation of this information.

▪️ This morning, the Sudanese Armed Forces took control of the headquarters of the Rapid Reaction Force in the state of Gedaref, on the border with Ethiopia. The army also carried out airstrikes against the RRF base at Meroe. An environment is attempted.

The RRF announced control over a number of strategic facilities in the capital and beyond, including the General Headquarters of the armed forces and military barracks in the Darfur region.

At least 56 civilians have died and 595 have been injured since the fighting began, according to the Sudanese Doctors' Union.

🔻 Chairman of the Sovereign Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan yesterday announced the dissolution of the RRF, and today the army command announced that it would not accept any negotiations with the rebels. In turn, the RRF are trying to find and arrest al-Burhan. Thus, the parties to the conflict have practically no options other than further escalation.
