The German transport company Hapag-Lloyd announced the creation of an inland multimodal route. According to the project, the ships will unload cargo at the ports of Jebel Ali (UAE), Dammam and Al Jubail (Saudi Arabia), and in transit through Riyadh they will be sent to Jeddah and beyond.
The prospects for this project are still in question, since the use of both sea and land transport increases both the time and prices for delivery. We observed this when considering the corridor from India to Israel, and from the UAE to Israel.
The complexity of transportation will logically increase costs, but at the same time it will be more acceptable than going around Africa . At the same time, we must not forget that shipping through the Red Sea, although it decreased, did not stop, which also raises the question of the feasibility of the project.
