In the early 16th century, 81% of the people in the Ottoman Empire were Christian and 19% were Muslim. In 1820, a census conducted in the Ottoman Empire revealed a population of 10.1 million.
The demographic breakdown was as follows:
#Turks: 3,500,000 (35%),
#Armenians: 2,400,000 (24%).
#Greeks: 2,000,000 (20%), with 400,000 being Hayhors (Armenians of the Greek faith).
#Kurds: 2,000,000 (20%),
#Assyrians and other Christians: 600,000 (6%)
Arabs, Circassians, and other Muslims.
As of 2023, #Christians made up 0.2% of Turkey's population. #christiangenocide
